Many of us spend our time worrying about what others think of us. We’re convinced that they are judging what we look like, what we do, who we spend time with and what we say. It may be human nature, but what we really should be focusing on is our opinions about ourselves! And that is the skill of self-reflection.

You probably look in a mirror multiple times a day. You’re doing your hair, applying make-up, checking your outfit and hopefully brushing your teeth. It’s such a common, almost automatic, practice that you probably don’t give it a second thought. How about if the next time you look in the mirror, you take and 1 extra minute to really look? Instead of looking ‘at’ yourself, what if you were to look ‘into’ yourself?

It will be uncomfortable at first because you’re not used to doing it. But as with any new habit, you will get used to it and over time, you’ll get comfortable. You’re actually taking a deeper look into you and not just what you look like. This technique can help you get to know yourself better.
